  1. Pchum Ben holiday sees over 660k travelers

During the three-day Pchum Ben public holiday ending on October 7, more than 660,000 people travelled to different tourist attractions across the country, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

2. Cambodia’s total trade volume in first 8 months remains positive

Cambodia’s total trade volume reached $25,610 million in the January-August period, up 7.9 percent compared with the same period last year.

3. Swan & Maclaren Group officially launch into KH market

Architecture firm Swan & Maclaren have announced the establishment of two offices based in Cambodia signing a Memorandum of Understanding last week.

4. 2,901 construction projects worth $3.8bn approved in first 8 months

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction has approved a total of 2,901 construction projects during the first eight months of 2021, a 449-project drop compared to the same period last year.

5. Bilateral trade with the U.S surges by 28% y-o-y

Bilateral trade between Cambodia and the US in the first eight months of 2021 totaled $5.4994 billion, surging by 28.47 per cent versus $4.2805 billion in the same period of last year, according to the US Census Bureau (USCB).

6.  Construction materials import value up by 20% in first 8 months

During the first eight months of 2021, the import value of all goods to Cambodia (except gold) was recorded at US$14.6 billion, an increase of 26.7% compared to the same period last year, while the construction materials import value also jumped by 23.7% y-o-y.

7. $10m Kep coastal road to start in November 2021          

Kep Provincial Administration aims to start upgrading the coastal road linking the city hall of Kep to the Angkol area, south of Kep city. Construction is scheduled to begin in November this year and is expected to be completed in September 2023.

8. IMF: Cambodia’s GDP will expand 6.6% in 5 years

In its World Economic Outlook, the IMF said the Kingdom’s gross domestic product (GDP) will expand 6.6 percent, second only to Vietnam with a forecast 6.9 percent growth.

9. Investment projects declined 28% y-o-y

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) approved 134 investment projects worth $3.3bn in the first three quarters of this year, a 28 percent decrease compared with the same period last year.

10. Draft Law on Investment to pass unchanged

Cambodia’s Draft Law on Investment will pass into law unchanged after its approval by the Senate and Constitutional Council, according to Sok Chenda Sophea, secretary-general of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
