  1. Dara Sakor Int’l Airport to re-delay, SR starts flight validation

Darasakor International Airport in Koh Kong province will be postponed again and will not be able to operate as planned.  Mao Keo Pich Chanmony, Director of Darasakor International Airport of the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation, told Construction and Property Magazine on May 13, 2023, that the company had already applied for a postponement and to reconfirm and set the launch schedule next time.  However, the company promises to try to complete the remaining work in the near future.

  1. Kingdom’s peppercorn authorized for import to CN

Cambodian pepper is the first of the Kingdom’s spices that has been granted formal approval to export directly to China. The achievement marks a significant accomplishment for the agricultural sector, with at least seven private companies already applying for export licenses for China. The Chinese embassy in Phnom Penh announced on May 12 that on the previous day, the Chinese General Administration of Customs (GAC) had issued a list of companies and facilities which had met its import standards.

  1. Mid-Oct’ launch confirmed for Siem Reap Int’l Airport

The formal launch of the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI) is still scheduled for mid-October, following the “success” of last week’s flight validation, according to State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) spokesman Sinn Chanserey Vutha on May 16. Chanserey Vutha told The Post that the technical team had given the green light to the airport’s CNS (communication, navigation, and surveillance) infrastructure and equipment after last week’s tests.
