  1. PPLC to break ground next year

Minister of Public Works and Transport expects to sign a concession agreement with Singapore’s YCH in ASEAN Summit 2022 and break the ground on the Phnom Penh Logistics Centre (PPLC) next year.

The garment and textile sector is confident of returning to full operation starting early next year if the government keeps up with the current momentum of its vaccination campaign and able to control the spread of Covid-19 by next year.

  1. 6,000+ businesses registered online

FASMEC President said that registering on “Single Portal” only requires to complete a one-time business registration form, reducing the fees by up to 40% with a maximum of 8 days. As of June 14, 6,164 applications had been approved and await further procedures.

  1. 55% complete & Free trail PP-SHV expressway

The construction of the expressway was now 55% complete and will take another 48 months to complete. The Ministry of Public Works and Transport held discussion with the constructing company to allow drivers to test the road free of charge before the official toll.

Plans and studies of the Kratie-Kampong Thom Bridge are now complete with construction scheduled to begin soon after final approval by PM Hun Sen.

The Cambodian government has decided to take over 126,000 hectares of land from eight natural protected areas in Koh Kong province and convert them for private and public use.

The NR6 expansion project in Siem Reap from the Sokha traffic lights to Jayavarman VII roundabout (airport junction) which is 5.8km long with 6 lanes is almost 50% complete.

The real estate industry expects property prices in the Arey Ksat area to be further driven up by construction of a proposed bridge linking the locality across the Mekong River to northeastern Phnom Penh.

11. $27M worth factories approved for SHV & Svay Rieng

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) recently approved private firms to invest in building four factories, worth approximately US$27 million, in Sihanoukville and Svay Rieng provinces and will create over 1,115 jobs.
