- KH registers $39Bn in FDIs in H1 2021
Cambodia licensed new foreign direct investments totaling $39 billion in the first semester this year, a year-on-year increase of 9.6 percent, the National Bank of Cambodia’s statistics showed today.

- RE and construction sectors contribute 15.9% of H1’s total FDI
The real estate sector ranked third, accounting for 12.2% of total foreign direct investment, equivalent to more than US$4.7 billion, while the construction sector contributed 3.7% or US$1.4 billion.

2. Construction of PP-SHV Expressway 70% complete, set to finish in late 2022
Construction of the 190km Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway is approximately 70% complete as of November 2021. The project is expected to be completed ahead of schedule, moving from 2023 to late 2022.

3. Hotel Nikko Phnom Penh due 2024
Globally renowned Japanese company Okura Nikko Hotel Management Co Ltd has postponed the launch of Hotel Nikko Phnom Penh from next year to 2024, in the expectation that the Cambodian tourism industry would have recovered from Covid-19 by then.

4. CP Fresh Mart enters modern retail food sector with quality products
CP Fresh Mart has joined Cambodia’s food retail sector with two outlets — in Siem Reap and Battambang — offering consumers another option to buy locally grown fresh produce and ready-to-eat products.

5. Over 2k hectares of flooded forest seized in new push
Over 2,000ha out of more than 10,000ha of flooded forestland around the Tonle Sap Lake have been seized, with more than a dozen offenders already begging for clemency for their encroachment on the protected areas which the government says must be preserved as fish-spawning habitat.

8. $200m SHV port expansion project in bidding stage; construction to begin in 2022
The Sihanoukville deep-sea port expansion project phase 1 is now in the bidding for contractor stage after the layout design has been finally completed with the construction expected to begin in 2022.

9. PM says nation’s growth to be driven by Sihanoukville
Prime Minister Hun Sen said more than $320 million was spent on the construction of infrastructure in Preah Sihanouk province to improve Cambodia’s image and drive economic growth.
