1. Home loan application amounts over $5B despite C-19

According to an annual report by the National Bank of Cambodia, home purchase credit in the country has increased by 37 percent in 2021, illustrating a sign of growing demands for home-ownership amongst Cambodians.

2. 93 km of NR7 from Tiger to Kratie, Kratie Province officially opened

The road will stretch from the roundabout of Khla Stos, Kratie city to Sambo district, Kratie province, with a length of 93.56 km and a width of 11 meters, divided into two lanes, built with the help of the Chinese government more than 33 million US dollars.

3. A new road connecting NR4 to Bokor Mountain has been completed by more than 10%

As of now, the project to build a new road connecting National Road No. 4 to Bokor Mountain has reached 6.5 km or 10%. This was said by HE Chea Sophara, Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction on February 6.

4. PM: Kratie-Kampong Thom Bridge will open in 2023 and build a new road to Kampong Thmor

The construction of a bridge across the Mekong River between Kratie and Kampong Thom provinces is scheduled to open in 2023 under a Chinese concession loan, as well as a new road to Kampong Thmor.

5. Minister: Economy may expand 5.6% in 2022

Minister of Economy and Finance has pegged Cambodia’s economic growth at 5.6 per cent for 2022, reflecting national progress towards herd immunity against Covid-19, underpinned by vaccination rates that rank among the best globally and that have motivated the government to allow the full restoration of socio-economic activity.

6. 287 housing developers get licences in 2010-21: REBPB

A total of 287 housing developers – accounting for 408 projects with capital investment of more than $7 million – have been licensed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance or its Real Estate Business and Pawnshop Regulator (REBPB) from 2010-2021, according to the REBPB head.

7. KH extends tax breaks for tourism-related businesses for 6 more months

The Cambodian government on Wednesday extended tax holidays for tourism-related establishments for another six months from January to June 2022 in a bid to boost business activity in the COVID-hit tourism industry.

8. Realty firm lists on Growth Board raising $12M

Real estate developer JS Land Plc listed on the Cambodia Securities Exchange’s (CSX) Growth Board on February 10 raising some 49 billion riel ($12 million).

9. PP-SHV Expressway aims for ‘temporary use’ in July

Senior Minister of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Sun Chanthol, announced that the Royal Government is currently working on plans to improve National Road 31, 33 and 41.

10. Construction of Ring Road 3 to be completed one year slower than schedule

The third ring road construction company has requested to complete the construction one year later than planned. The project may be completed during September 2023.
